MIT ‘s Office of Digital Learning conducted a two-year experiment with Omnilive to assess the benefits of creating an interactive learning experience for distance learning, recording and archiving its courses.
Here are some of the results:
Increased retention of information: students retain 76% of a message when they watch it on video, compared with 11% when reading text. Retention rises to 93% in the case of interactive mutiview video.
Preservation of the homogeneity of the learning sequence and increased level of concentration: The pourcentage at which the video is “paused” is greatly reduced (60%) due to the plurality of available viewpoints. As a result, the students requested a variable speed feature so that they could watch the video even faster.
